Bespoke VIP experiences give you direct access to the people, places, and products behind France’s world-famous cuisine. All experiences are private, so you get the full attention of food historian and Paris expert Veronica Cassidy, who has years of experience as a top-rated guide at other Paris food tour companies. We currently offer two experiences for groups of six guests maximum: our VIP Tasting Tour and our VIP Cheese Lovers’ Course.

VIP Tasting Tour

Our private food and wine tour gives you the chance to eat your way through the iconic Left Bank, while answering all your questions about the country’s food culture. We’ll visit five award-winning shops and sample the finest cheese, bread, meat (or fish), pastry, and chocolate. All our shops are headed by producers with prestigious titles like Best Craftsperson in France or Knight of the Order of National Merit (trust us, that’s a big deal!).

We’ll take our delicious samplings to a local wine shop, where we will pair our feast with French wines and/or other regional beverages. Along the way, you’ll learn how to shop like a Parisian, the ins and outs of French food etiquette, how to get the best service while you’re in town, the history of France told through its cuisine, and a whole bunch of foodie fun facts. Plus, we’ll cover questions like, what are the principles of pairing? How do you identify a good food shop or restaurant versus a tourist trap? And how do French people eat so much bread and stay so skinny?

VIP Cheese Lovers’ Course

Whether you’re a novice or a pro, if you love cheese, this course is for you. With over 1,200 cheeses produced in France, we’ll figure out which are your favorites, how to identify good cheese, how to order in a cheese shop, how to serve different types of cheese, how to pair them, where to find them (or similar cheeses) in the U.S., and all sorts of trivia that’ll have you impressing even your most Francophile friend. For those with more advanced cheese knowledge, we’ll get nerdy about the world of mold and bacteria, learn about little-known cheeses like black brie, and get connected to the who’s who of the French cheese world.

The course starts with a discussion of cheese over coffee, including a take-home vocabulary list that will be emailed to you. Then we’ll head to one of the best Master Cheesemongers in Paris, where you’ll meet the cheesemonger and learn the finesse of French cheese shopping. Together, we’ll choose a minimum of seven cheeses, which we’ll take to a local wine shop to pair with French beverages, including at least one wine. While diving into our cheesy treasures, we’ll go deep into how cheeses are produced, their history, the chemistry behind each cheese family, etiquette for serving and eating cheese, the appellation system that protects certain French cheeses, cheese seasonality, and how to create the perfect cheese plate.

Our price includes:

  • All food and beverages (wine, coffee, water, and sometimes seasonal drinks like cider), served in generous portions

  • Follow-up email with information about everything we ate and drank, each shop we visited, and personalized recommendations

Note that we strongly discourage booking any meals in the hours after the tour, as you will leave full.

Fine Print

Cancellation Policy: A full, non-refundable payment is required at the time of booking. Because of high demand and limited availability, once we accept a booking, we decline other requests for that time slot. Therefore, we cannot offer refunds. If you cancel with at least 48 hours’ notice, we will do our best to reschedule you, but we cannot guarantee that option. In all other cases, you will be offered a 50% discount for a future booking, which is transferable to friends and family booking with the same group size.

Allergies and Non-Drinkers: We can accommodate allergies, vegetarian, or gluten-free diets. We cannot accommodate vegan diets. We offer high-quality, organic juices for guests who do not drink alcohol. We require 48 hours’ notice for these accommodations.

Children: Experiences are designed for adults, but we welcome curious children over 14. Well-behaved babies are welcome, but because of the small shop sizes, strollers cannot be accommodated.

Professionals: We encourage visits from food industry professionals. Please indicate such when you reserve.

Schedule: Please note that because of shop closures, tours and workshops run Tuesdays through Saturdays, AM and PM. Sunday mornings are sometimes available.
